Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then Jeshua the son of Jozadak and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and his brethren, arose and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God. – Ezra 3:2

Under the Old Covenant, God’s people built a physical “altar of the God of Israel.” The altar was a physical structure within the Temple; and on it people would present their offerings to God, and hope He received them.

Do you know where the New Covenant altar is? Your heart. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:19), and the altar is inside the temple. God is not looking for lip service. He is not interested in shallow commitment! He desires for you to bring everything in your life to Him, and offer it on the altar of your heart.

Give God your heart, and He will take care of the rest.

Prayer:

Father, I want to worship You with my whole heart! Give me the courage to bring every circumstance that comes up in my life to You. I offer up all that I have to You on the altar of my heart, in Jesus’ name!
