Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
…this Ezra came up from Babylon; and he was a skilled scribe in the Law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given. The king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him. – Ezra 7:6

The King will grant your request to the extent that God’s hand is upon you. God will put His hand on you at specific times, to do (and pray!) specific things. It is critical that we pursue His will at those moments in the direction He specifies.

So, what is God’s hand on you to do? You will feel it when you pray. You will know it in your heart! When you sense His hand on you to do something or to pray something, do it! And the King will grant your request.

The opposite question is also important. What is God’s hand not on you to do? You must know not only what He has anointed you to do, but also what He has not anointed you to do! Don’t waste time pursuing something if God’s hand is not on it. Do whatever is required to maintain intimacy with God through prayer so that His hand is always upon you.

Prayer:

Father, help me to be sensitive to the places and moments in which Your hand is on me. Help me to know when something is Your will, and when You have anointed me to pursue it! I know that when I pray for those things, You will grant me my request, in Jesus’ name.
