Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

But this I say, brethren, the time is short…For the form of this world is passing away. – 1 Cor 7:29-31

We all pray for long life; but on a relative basis, no matter how long you live, this world is passing away swiftly. The things we typically spend our time worrying about – money, power & success – do not matter in the scheme of eternity. Your life on this earth is just a blip on the radar: a short preparation for an eternity of infinite bliss for those who call Jesus Lord. The only thing that matters is, did you love God with all your heart?

This realization shouldn’t be depressing; it should be uplifting! Because of the Cross, you are free from worrying about the cares of this world. Because Jesus died for your sins, you don’t have to be burdened by the same things “normal” men and women obsess over. You have the perspective to live your life for what really matters, from this day forward!

Time is short. This world is passing away! Are you living for eternity?

Prayer:

Father, give me divine perspective! Help me to live for eternity every single day. Remind me what really matters, so I can spend my life accordingly.
