Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Now it happened, when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were being restored and the gaps were beginning to be closed, that they became very angry, and all of them conspired together to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion. Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night. – Neh 4:7-9

You built the wall; now it’s time to defend what you’ve built! God has blessed you. Whatever family you have: it’s from Him. Whatever career you have: it’s from Him! You’ve put in work praying for things to come together; and now it’s time to pray that they would stand, even as the enemy attacks!

Nehemiah was hard at work with the people of Jerusalem, rebuilding the wall. But as soon as the enemy heard that God’s work was getting done, he got ready to attack! But Nehemiah responded in prayer: “Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God…”

Did you think the enemy was going to let you waltz into your destiny uncontested? Be on guard. Be ready! Pray for protection over everything God has built; and trust that what He has constructed, He will cause to stand.

Prayer:

Father, protect me from the plans of the enemy. Keep me safe and help me to pursue You whenever I face opposition! I know that You built it; and You will keep it standing, in Jesus’ name!
