Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Now I praise you, brethren, that you remember me in all things and keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you. – 1 Cor 11:2

Your relationship with Jesus is based on love; not tradition. You could skip church for the rest of your life; but as long as you confess Jesus as Lord, you will go to Heaven! Tradition without Jesus becomes lifeless religion. Yet Paul told the early church that traditions are still important!

God has given us traditions to celebrate His love. We should celebrate Jesus’ death and burial with communion. We should champion discipleship with baptism. We should honor God by gathering for corporate worship. Traditions enhance our love relationship with God, but they should never become a substitute!

Traditions play a role in our faith. Embrace Biblical traditions as a means to remember Christ; but never forget that His love is all you will ever need!

Prayer:

Father, help me to embrace traditions with healthy, Biblical balance. I know traditions are not everything; but they are important. Help me to celebrate traditions that increase Your presence in my life!
