Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand… – 1 Cor. 15:1

Knowing the gospel is different from standing in the gospel. The gospel is the good news that, “…Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures” (1 Cor. 15:3). Jesus died in your place on the Cross! He took on the punishment that you deserve for your sin, so that you could receive the reward that only He deserves for His righteousness. And the answer to any problem or obstacle you could ever face in your life is the same: stand in the gospel.

Do you wake up tired? Stand in the gospel! Remind yourself that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you (Rom. 8:11). Do you struggle with sin? Stand in the gospel! Remind yourself that Jesus died so you could have His Spirit living in you, helping you to make the right choices. Do you need help in your friendships or your marriage? Stand in the gospel! Remind yourself that Jesus died to, “…draw all peoples to [Himself]” (Jn. 12:32), and that the only way to love others better is to love Jesus more.

The gospel is the answer. The good news is the breath of fresh air that you desperately need! Don’t just dip in your toe. Stand in the gospel, and receive resurrection life.

Prayer:

Father, I will remind myself of the gospel as many times as it takes until my eyes are fixed on Jesus. I don’t need anything or anyone else! I need Jesus, and Him alone, in Jesus’ name.
