Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in all Achaia… – 2 Cor 1:1

The Apostle Paul wrote is letter to “the church of God.” The church doesn’t belong to the people in it; it belongs to God. That is the beauty of the body. It doesn’t belong to us; it belongs to Him! Your church is not “your” church. It is not “your pastor’s” church. It is God’s church!

When you go to church, you are not going to honor the people in the building; you are going to honor God. When you give to church, you are not giving to support an operating budget; you are giving to honor God! When you serve in church, you are not only serving the vision and mission of your church; you are serving God!

Thanks be to God for His church! We are blessed that He has made us part of it.

Prayer:

Father, help me to remember that the church does not exist for me; it exists for You. Yes I have a part to play; but the part You call me to play is worship unto You! Help me never to be selfish with my life or calling. Everything I do, I do for You, in Jesus’ name.
