Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. – 2 Cor 4:16
Paul and Timothy were persecuted to the point of imminent death for their faith. Yet here was Paul’s takeaway: “We do not lose heart.” Paul knew that no matter what was happening outside of him, God was doing work inside of him. It didn’t matter if everything on the outside was changing; but it did matter that what was inside was changing.
God is doing work inside of you. Don’t allow yourself to become frustrated with a perceived lack of change on the outside. Change takes time! You cannot always control what happens around you; but you have the final say over what happens within you.
Do not lost heart. Your life is not perfect! But God is doing a mighty work in you.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for working inside me! Regardless of what I see around me, I know You are working in me. Thank You for Your perfect work, in Jesus’ name!
