Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father… – Gal 1:3-4

Jesus gave Himself for our sins. He died so you and I could be delivered – once and for all – from sin. He died so you and I could be free from the cares and concerns of this world, and focus wholeheartedly on Heaven!

You don’t have to deliver yourself from sin! Jesus already delivered you. Jesus gave Himself; and that means deliverance and salvation are gifts. The harder you try to “be better,” the worse off you will be. The more you try to “sin less,” the more you will sin! But the moment you accept the finished work of the Cross and rest in everything Jesus accomplished for you, you will be free from the chains of sin forever.

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. – Heb 4:15

Prayer:

Father, thank You that Jesus conquered the grave. Thank You that He made sin powerless in my life! Thank you for defeating the enemy and all his devices, so that I would never have to be subject to them, in Jesus’ name!
