Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called… – Eph 4:1

What does it mean to be a prisoner of the Lord? Paul was physically bound, yet spiritually free. He was a prisoner by the world’s standards; but He was free for all eternity because of the Cross of Jesus Christ! Paul simply didn’t care if he spent time in jail, because he knew he would spend eternity with Jesus.

Whatever you are going through: take a moment to reflect on the Cross. You might feel bound, here and now; but the pains of this world mean nothing compared to the pleasures of eternity to come!

Now, go out and walk worthy of your calling. Live today in light of the finished work of the Cross. Nothing can hold you back, because the blood of Jesus has made you free!

Prayer:

Father, thank You that the eternal victory Your Son Jesus purchased for me on the Cross makes the cares of this world absolutely obsolete. Help me to focus on Jesus: nothing and no one else. Even though I am bound in some areas of my life, today I declare that I am free, in Jesus’ name!
