Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent… – Isa. 62:6

We are in unprecedented, turbulent times. At the time of this writing, we are approaching one of the most contentious presidential elections in modern history. We are constantly witnessing peaceful protests over racial injustice turn into incendiary riots because bad actors seek to corrupt the intended message with selfish motives. No matter where you live, there is trouble brewing in your city! And that is why it is time to pray like never before.

When Jerusalem was threatened by her enemies, God set watchmen on her walls. Watchmen kept a lookout for enemies. They refused to hold their peace, day or night! They did not stop looking, and they did not stop praying, because they knew that the safety of their city depended on their prayers.

God has made you a watchman. Will you pray? Will you contend for your city like never before? Will you refuse to become complacent, assuming others will shoulder the burden to pray? Will you reject the passive attitude that whatever will be will be, and realize that the future of your city depends on your prayers?

God is looking for watchmen. Your city needs men and women who will not relent in prayer! Can they count on you?

Prayer:

Lord, I accept the call to be a watchman over my city. I will never hold my peace, day or night. I will not keep silent! I will lift up Your name, O God, and pray for the prosperity of my city in Jesus’ name!
