Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state. For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state. – Phil 2:19-20

Paul trusted Timothy to care for the Philippians on his behalf. He noted that Timothy was the only one, “…like-minded, who [would] sincerely care…,” for their state. To be like-minded means to be equal in soul: equal in mind, equal in will, and equal in emotions (Strong’s G2473).

Jesus trusts you to care for His people as He does. He knows you will be moved with compassion for His people, just as He is! He wants you to care sincerely – genuinely and faithfully – for their state! In order to care like He cares, you have to think like He thinks.

Renew your mind daily with the word of God. As you read, you will be,  “…transformed into the same image…” as Jesus Himself (2 Cor 3:18)! Then and only then will you be properly equipped to go out and care for His people.

Prayer:

Father, I need refreshing. Rejuvenate me! Help me to think like You think. Help me to love Your people just as You love them, in Jesus’ name!
