Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving… – Col 4:2

Prayer is the most important thing you can do with your time. There are things God wants to see in your life that cannot happen unless you start to pray! There are processes that will not unfold in your life unless you start to pray. There are connections you cannot make in life unless you start to pray! Do you see the pattern here?

Continue earnestly in prayer. Don’t give up! Be “vigilant” in prayer. The Greek word for “vigilant” in the original text is gregoreuo,[1] which means to be “active” and “give strict attention” to something. It also means “to take heed lest through remission and indolence some destructive calamity suddenly overtake [you].” What a wakeup call! Not only does neglecting prayer keep us from moving forward; it can also leave us open to destruction!

Prayer is serious business. It shouldn’t be something we just “sneak in” to our daily routine; it should be the foundation around which our very lives are built!

Prayer:

Father, give me the strength to continue in prayer. Give me time to pray more than ever before! I know that prayer protects me, and keeps me moving forward into my God-given destiny, in Jesus’ name.
