Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.” – Jer 17:7-8

Hope is not an emotion; hope is a Person. Jesus Christ is our hope. Without Him, we hope in vain; but with Him, our eternal hope becomes an eternal reward.

To trust in man is foolish; but to trust in the Lord is faithful. Fear and anxiety have no place in our lives when we hope in the Lord. No matter how bad things look around us, God will provide for us when our hope is in Him. Even when there is drought all around us, we will never cease from yielding fruit!

No matter how bad things get, anxiety has to flee in the presence of the Lord! No matter how ugly your mess is, you will not stop yielding fruit as long as you stay connected to God! Grow deep roots in God, and you will have nothing to fear!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for eternal hope. Help me to trust Jesus like never before. Help me to hope in Him, so that I never stop yielding fruit!
