Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart. – Jer 24:7
Wouldn’t you love to give your “whole heart” to God? What if you could lay your whole life at His feet, and serve God with all your affection and all your devotion? Imagine the level of intimacy you would experience in your prayer life. Imagine the level of joy you would experience as you grab hold of perfect devotion to God!
But you cannot love God with your “whole heart” until He gives you a “heart to know [Him].” Don’t you see that you will never be able to live a life of complete devotion to God through your own self-effort? You have to ask Him for help! If you want to love Him with all your heart, you have to allow Him to change your heart first. He will give you a heart to know Him; and then all you have to do is give it back.
Prayer:
Father, give me a heart to know You! I want to know You – Your Word, Your heart, and Your character – like never before. I want to love You like never before! And I know that can only happen if You give me a heart to know You.
