Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you… – 2 Thess 3:1

The word of God moves at different speeds. Sometimes, His word crawls; and other times, His word runs. The Apostle Paul’s request of the church at Thessalonica was to make the word of the Lord “run swiftly;” and he asked them to do it through prayer! How fast God’s word “runs” depends on your prayers! How fast the Gospel of Jesus Christ reaches the furthest reaches of the globe depends on the church’s willingness to pray!

We have a responsibility to share the Gospel. But the effectiveness of our evangelism depends on the strength of our prayers. Whether or not God’s Word penetrates hardened hearts is not the result of intellectual argument – saying something someone hasn’t heard before; it is the result of spiritual deposit – praying something nobody has prayed before!

Pray! God’s word cannot “run swiftly” without your prayers.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for inspiring me to pray powerful prayers. I pray Your word would “run swiftly” – from heart to heart, all over the globe, in Jesus’ name!
