Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“And You have said to me, O Lord God, ‘Buy the field for money, and take witnesses’!—yet the city has been given into the hand of the Chaldeans.” Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying, “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me”? – Jer 32:25-27

Judah was facing imminent destruction; but Jeremiah was buying a field! No one had any interest in property, because everyone knew the city would be destroyed; but God called Jeremiah to buy in to His promises, and show the whole city his confidence that God would restore His people. “I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely,” said the Lord (v 37). Then He called Jeremiah to put his faith into action.

Talking about the promises of God is one thing; but acting on them is another. Sometimes faith means doing things that would make your unsaved friends go, “Huh?!” God’s abundance means that even when everyone around you is panicking, you will have the patience and the confidence to trust in God.

Prayer:

Father, nothing is too hard for You! Help me to trust You with all my heart. When the rest of the world runs for cover, help me to boldly buy in to Your promise!
