Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Cursed is he who does the work of the Lord deceitfully, and cursed is he who keeps back his sword from blood. – Jer. 48:10

You are a warrior. You are called to warfare! And Scripture says, “…cursed is he who keeps back his sword from blood.” The man who will not use the weapons God has given him to annihilate his adversary will never be blessed!

For Israel, God’s Old Covenant people, this meant attacking physical enemies. But for you and me, God’s New Covenant people, this means attacking spiritual enemies. “For we do not wrestle [fight] against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Eph. 6:12). Like it or not, you were born to be a warrior in the Spirit.

God has called you to war! He has called you to take back darkness from the enemy in the name of the army of light. He has given you weapons to get this done; and one of those is “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Eph. 6:17).

Now here’s what all this means. The way you fight Satan is through prayer: by declaring the word of God out loud. By using your “sword of the Spirit!” And it is your duty to use the weapon God has given you. Do not keep your sword back from blood! God has given you authority over the enemy, and it is your destiny to use it.

“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” – Lk. 10:19

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making me fit for war in the spirit realm! I have put off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. I am excited to take territory for Your Kingdom! And there is no plan or purpose of the enemy that can stop me, in Jesus’ name!
