Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
‘They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be like refuse; their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord; they will not satisfy their souls, nor fill their stomachs, because it became their stumbling block of iniquity. – Ezek. 7:19
What are you spending your time accumulating? When you go to God, your money will be “like refuse.” Your “silver and gold” – everything you have accomplished and accumulated – will be worthless. Nothing you have done will be able to get you into Heaven!
Only Jesus can get you where you want to be for eternity. He made a way for you:
In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. – Jn 14:2-3
And it is only by following Him, that you can get where He is.
Don’t lose focus! Put your eyes back on God. In the end, He is all that matters.
Prayer:
Father, help me to get my focus back! I want to focus on you: nothing and no one else. I lay my life at Your feet, and I ask that You would fill me with the purpose and destiny You created me to carry, in Jesus’ name!
