Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
So I will lay to rest My fury toward you, and My jealousy shall depart from you. I will be quiet, and be angry no more. – Ezek 16:42

Jesus served as your substitute. When Jesus Christ died on the Cross, God’s fury was poured out on Him. God’s righteous jealousy for His people was exercised. His anger and His wrath were spent, as Jesus took on the punishment we rightfully deserve for our sin.

And that means there is none left for you. God has laid His fury to rest! There is no more anger, and no more wrath left for you. All that remains is love: a “perfect love [that] casts out fear” (1 John 4:18).

Isn’t it a relief to know that your debt has been paid? God’s fury has been laid to rest; and all that’s left for you is love!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the Cross of Jesus Christ. Jesus didn’t deserve to die; but He chose to lay down His life and take my place! I am forever grateful. I receive Your perfect love that only Jesus deserves, in Jesus’ name!
