Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
For a tabernacle was prepared: the first part, in which was the lampstand, the table, and the showbread, which is called the sanctuary; and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of All… – Heb 9:2-3

Under the Old Covenant, the tabernacle was a physical place. God’s people built the tabernacle to house His presence. God’s people gathered around His presence in community. Everyone was allowed to get close, but only one man – the high priest (v 7) was allowed to enter the “Holiest of All “ (v 3) and experience God’s presence. The rest of the people were allowed to get close, but could never fully experience the presence of God!

But under the New Covenant, you are the tabernacle of God. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:19). The Holy Spirit lives in you, and you can experience His presence all the time! In fact, you should experience the tangible presence of the Holy Spirit each and every single day of your life!

Do you feel “far” from God? How much closer can you ask Him to get? Not only to you get to live close to Him; He has chosen to live inside of you! That means His presence is always there. And that means that no matter what God has called you to do, you are prepared by His presence.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the indwelling presence of Your Holy Spirit. I am eternally grateful that You chose to make a home inside of me. Thank You for blessing me with Your presence, in Jesus’ name!
