Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Have you come to inquire of Me? As I live,” says the Lord God, “I will not be inquired of by you.”’” – Ezek 20:2-3

In these verses, God is telling Ezekiel that He doesn’t even want to talk to His people! His people were stiff-necked and rebellious, so God rejected their request to speak with Him. “I will not be inquired of by you,” He said. The Israelites had lost their right to seek God because they were not following Him with their whole heart.

Under the Old Covenant, you could only inquire of God if you were obedient and did what He said! But under the New Covenant, you can always inquire of God because Jesus was obedient and did what He said! Do you see the difference?

Your ability to hear from God no longer depends on your behavior. It depends on your position as a son (or daughter) of the King! It depends on your belief in Jesus as Lord. You get to hear from God – all day, every day – because Jesus made a way into His presence on your behalf.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. – Heb 4:16

Prayer:

Father, thank You for speaking to me. Thank You that the Cross of Jesus Christ means You will never reject me! Thank You that I am accepted and I am loved, in Jesus’ name.
