Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Remember the prisoners as if chained with them–those who are mistreated–since you yourselves are in the body also. – Heb. 13:3

We’ve all done it. Someone tells you what’s going on in their life and asks you to pray. You tell them you’ll pray for them! But the next time you see them, you realize you didn’t pray at all. You forgot! You were busy. As soon as you walked away you lost sight of the need to urgently pray.

But Scripture leads us to a better response. When someone tells you what they’re going through, pray for them like it’s your own life. Remember the “prisoners” – the people in your life who are really going through something! – “as if chained with them.” You can’t walk away and forget about someone if you’re chained to them! Pray for their need like it’s your own! At the end of the day, you are both part of the same body; so when their prayer gets answered, your prayer gets answered.

Prayer:

Lord, I don’t want to be too busy to pray for other people anymore. I pray You would bring people to my remembrance all day so I can pray! I want to pray for them with zeal and dedicated passion, in Jesus’ name!
