CityLight Pastor Commentary:

“Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding” (Matt 22:9). Salvation is a free gift, and it is available to everyone. In the parable of the wedding feast, the servants were instructed to invite “…all whom they found, both bad and good” (Matt 22:10). There is nothing you have done, could be doing, or can ever do that overshadows the work of the Cross. When we repent of our sins, we are forgiven. Jesus Christ died for all your sins – past, present and future. Don’t ever let your rap sheet, record or troubled past convince you that salvation isn’t available through faith in Jesus Christ. At the end of this parable, the king casts out a guest who came to the feast without the proper attire, and it is here that we see the key to being accepted into God’s presence: we must be clothed with the righteousness of Jesus Christ Himself. When we trust in Jesus Christ for salvation and give everything we have to follow after Him, God attributes His righteousness to us. He sees us in exactly the same light as His Only Son.

Prayer:

“Father, thank You that I am washed clean by the blood of Jesus Christ! Thank You that I am clothed in His righteousness: there is no sin too big for the Cross!”
