Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. – Dan 9:3

Daniel wanted God to know he was serious about prayer. So he “set his face” toward the Lord God. He stopped everything and turned 100% of his attention and focus to God. Then he made his request, “…by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes.”

It’s time to get serious about prayer. I’m not saying you have to cover your head with ashes every time you pray! But Daniel was intentional about his time in prayer. He set aside time to intentionally pursue God’s heart; and he cut out anything that would get in the way.

God loves you! He wants to hear from you. Jesus made a way for you to enter into God’s presence through prayer. Are you receiving everything Jesus died for you to have?

Prayer:

Father, make me intentional in prayer. I want to seek You like never before! I want to spend hours in Your presence, dedicating time to seek Your face. Help me to block out all distractions and fix my eyes on You, in Jesus’ name.
