Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. – Prov. 29:1

God is gentle. He is kind! He will “rebuke” us in an effort to get us back on the right path. He will send other people to “rebuke” us so that iron can sharpen iron (Prov. 27:7) and we can be made stronger and wiser by wise counsel. “Rebuke” is not a bad thing! “Rebuke” can be holy and healthy correction that comes from a place of love.

But destruction is a bad thing. God does not destroy us; the enemy does. When we resist rebuke and become hard and stubborn, we continue to wander in the wrong direction. When we refuse to have our course corrected by God, we will move outside of God’s protection. The enemy will have access to us because we refuse to be ushered back under the protection of our ever-loving Father in Heaven.

Allow God to correct you. Don’t run from it! Run to it. It is far better to be rebuked by God, than to be destroyed by the enemy because we refuse to correct our course.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for leading and guiding me! I am 100% open to Your rebuke, Your wisdom and Your direction. I am so grateful for Your presence in my life, in Jesus’ name.
