Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“At that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation, even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, every one who is found written in the book.” – Dan. 12:1

Every description of the end of the world in Scripture paints a grim picture. There will be a “time of trouble, such as there never was.” There will be “wars and rumors of wars…For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes” (Matt. 24:6-7). “Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother” (Lk. 12:53). Things are going to get worse and not better!

But look at what happens to God’s people in the midst of a global meltdown. They “shall be delivered, every one who is found written in the book.” If you have Jesus, He will protect you! If you believe in Jesus as Lord, you are “hidden with Christ in God” (Col. 3:3). The evil in this world will not affect you because God will deliver you from destruction. So then, what is the only path to true peace in a world that is falling down around you? Saving faith in Jesus Christ: to know Him and to make Him known.

And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake,
Some to everlasting life,
Some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Those who are wise shall shine
Like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever. – Dan. 12:2-3

Prayer:

Father, keep me strong in faith! Help me to hope and trust in You and Your Word like never before. I am grateful for Your protection! Give me wisdom to discern the times and keep me in the palm of Your hand, in Jesus’ name!
