Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.” – Micah 5:2

Your size doesn’t matter. Your strength doesn’t matter! Truth be told, your level of education and expertise doesn’t really matter either. When God chooses you, His destiny will come forth. Yes, there is training required! But if God has chosen you, the hardest part is already done.

Nobody expected God to choose David:

So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!” – 1 Samuel 16:12

But God had made his choice. And because the “Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward” (1 Sam. 16:13), David had everything he would ever need. He had God’s anointing. He had God’s vote of confidence in his destiny. And David would go on to become one of the greatest kings the world has ever seen!

You might be little; yet out of you will come an amazing destiny. God put you on this earth to do something that no one else can do! He chose you. Now go out and do it in His strength, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer:

Father, help me never to doubt my calling. Thank You that the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. You have chosen me! And that is all that matters, in Jesus’ name!
