Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Give me neither poverty nor riches– Feed me with the food allotted to me; lest I be full and deny You, and say, “Who is the Lord?” Or lest I be poor and steal, and profane the name of my God. – Prov 30:8-9

Give me neither poverty nor riches….what an interesting prayer! Most churches encourage you to pick one extreme or the other: they either encourage you to pray for great wealth, or encourage you to forget about money altogether. But today’s verse restores balance. God wants us to find the sweet spot: having everything we need, but not needing anything we don’t have!

Biblical prosperity means you have everything you need to fulfill the divine mandate God has put on your life. Jesus modeled this perfectly. When He needed money, He had it; but when He didn’t have money, He didn’t need it. He didn’t ignore money; but He certainly didn’t let money distract Him! The result was perfect, effective ministry.

Prayer:

Father, make me prosperous in Jesus’ name! Give me neither poverty nor riches; but give me everything I need to go out and do Your work!
