Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“As for you also, Because of the blood of your covenant, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.” – Zech 9:11

The blood of Jesus means we are free from captivity. In Matthew 26, Jesus told His disciples what His death on the Cross would mean for them:

Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” – Matt 26:27-28

The blood of Jesus means forgiveness from sin: freedom from guilt forever! The blood of Jesus established a New Covenant: one in which our righteousness is not determined by our performance, but by our relationship with God! Because of the blood of Jesus, we get to live free from fear.

Rejoice that because Jesus chose to die, you and I can truly live.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the blood of Your Son Jesus Christ! Thank You that His death means eternal life. Thank You that His blood means freedom for me, for all eternity!
