Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years… – Rev. 20:1-2
Heaven has the ability to bind the things of hell. At the end of time, an angel will come down from heaven and bind Satan. An angel will, “…cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him” (v 3). And Satan will be powerless to resist him.
It is true that Satan has a measure of power on this earth. He is the “prince of the power of the air” (Eph. 2:2). But God has infinitely more power. And do you know what? His Kingdom is in you:
Now when [Jesus] was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” – Lk. 17:20-21
That means that part of your mission on this earth, as a believer in Jesus who is filled with the Holy Spirit, is to bind the work of the enemy. You don’t have to be a victim to the enemy’s plans; you get to be a victor who ushers in the plans and purposes of God!
Jesus has given you the authority to usher in the kingdom of God everywhere you go. Are you using the authority He has given you?
“And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” – Matt. 16:19
Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me authority to bind the work of the devil, and to release the work of heaven! Remind me today that my prayers have power. I will speak life over the dead, and bind the works of darkness in Jesus’ name!
