Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’” – Matt 25:1-6

You don’t get to choose when you will need the oil! The need for the anointing will arise in a moment; and when it does, will you be ready? When God puts someone in front of you on the street, will you have the anointing to share the Gospel? When God puts someone in front of you who needs healing, will you have the anointing to get the job done?

Prize the anointing! Spend time with Jesus every day. Treasure God’s presence. If you wait to seek it until you need it, it will be too late; but if you spend time with the Lord in advance, you will be ready in your moment of need.

Prayer:

Father, make me ready, in Jesus’ name! Whenever You have work for me to do, I want to be prepared. Keep me ready to do Your work at all times!
