CityLight Pastor Commentary:

“Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons” (Mk 3:14-15).

Jesus sent His disciples out with authority to preach the Gospel, and power to heal sicknesses and cast out demons. Jesus’ intention was always for His disciples to walk in the same authority and power as He Himself walked. ‘Disciple’ is the Greek ‘mathetes,’ which means a ‘learner’ or ‘pupil.’ That means you, and that means me. The power of the Gospel was never meant to be restrained only to those in full-time ministry. Our job as a church staff is to equip each and every person at CityLight Church with the understanding that every Christian should walk in the power and authority of Jesus Christ Himself.

Prayer:

“Father, I want to preach with authority! I want my words to be followed with signs and wonders! I pray that Your Holy Spirit would work powerfully through me in Jesus’ Mighty Name!”
