The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of wisdom. – Prov. 10:21
Your character is more important than your ability as a good communicator. Your integrity determines the extent to which others will be “fed” by your speech. You can be the best communicator in the world! But if you don’t live what you preach, your life is a sham.
When John the Baptist wanted to know if Jesus was the Messiah, he sent his disciples to hear one of Jesus’ sermons. But this was Jesus’ reply:
“When the men had come to Him, they said, ‘John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” ‘ And that very hour He cured many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind He gave sight.
“Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.’” – Lk. 7:20-22
Jesus told them to tell John not only what they heard, but also what they saw. Jesus not only preached about the miraculous; He also performed miracles. Don’t worry about what to say! Worry about living your life as an example that Jesus is real, and the words will come. Jesus’ actions were proof of the integrity of His words; and so too shall yours be.
Prayer:
Father, make me a man of integrity in speech. I only want to preach things that I have lived. I only want to declare things that I am experiencing in my everyday life! Thank You that as I simply focus on becoming more like You, Your Holy Spirit will give me the words to speak, in Jesus’ name.
