Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
My dishonor is continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me, because of the voice of him who reproaches and reviles, because of the enemy and the avenger. – Ps 44:15-16

The Psalmist felt shame. He felt dishonor. Why? Because he was listening to the wrong voice: “…because of the voice of him who reproaches and reviles” (v 16).

Satan – your enemy – reproaches and reviles. His aim is to cover you with guilt, condemnation, and shame. His goal is to have you so overcome by a sense of inadequacy that you can’t do anything for the Lord.

But look at how God speaks:

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. – Jn 14:26-27

God doesn’t condemn; He uplifts. God doesn’t push; He leads. God doesn’t bring shame; He brings peace! If you’re feeling discouraged, you’re listening to the wrong voice! Listen to God, and be uplifted, in Jesus’ name!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your voice! Thank You for the constant encouragement I find in Your word and in prayer. Block out the enemy from my ears; and fill my head with Your heart, in Jesus’ name!
