Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And the leader of the fathers’ house of the families of the Kohathites was Elizaphan the son of Uzziel. Their duty included the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, the utensils of the sanctuary with which they ministered, the screen, and all the work relating to them. – Num 3:30-31

Each one of God’s people was assigned a specific task. The Gershonites were assigned the tabernacle, the tent, and the court around the altar (v 26). The Kohathites were in charge of the ark, the table, and many of the individual items in the sanctuary (v 31). The Mahlites and the Mushites took care of the pillars of the court and the boards of the tabernacle (v 36).

We all have a specific design. We all have a specific role! When we do what God has appointed someone else to do, the result is confusion! But when we do what God has asked us to do, the result is fulfillment and peace.

Don’t spend your life trying to do something God created someone else to do. Ask Him to define your role, and stick to it! There – and only there – will you find fullness of joy.

Prayer:

Father, help me to love what You have called me to do! I want to have a good attitude and a humble heart as I serve You, in Jesus’ name.
