Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.” – Lk 1:13

God blessed Zacharias with an amazing encounter! The angel Gabriel personally appeared to him to announce the birth of his son, John the Baptist. But why did the angel ever show up in the first place?

Zacharias prayed. God had a plan; but Zacharias had to pray. Gabriel arrived because of his prayer. God heard Zacharias and Elizabeth crying out for a son, and sent Gabriel with the answer.

God cannot answer prayers you refuse to pray. Vocalize your requests. Make them known to God! Then, sit back, relax, and watch Him answer.

Prayer:

Father, give me boldness to pray for seemingly impossible things! Give me courage to pray for the supernatural to overflow in my life. I know You cannot answer any prayer I refuse to pray; so help me to open my mouth and pray, in Jesus’ name!
