Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. – Lk 2:36-37

Anna got to see Jesus. Why? It wasn’t because she was famous. It wasn’t because she was an elected official. It wasn’t because she was the most educated person in the world! It was because she was the most dedicated.

God showed Anna His plan because she was always in His presence. She, “…did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day” (v 37). God doesn’t owe an explanation to someone who thinks they deserve one; but He will reveal His plan to the person who is always around Him!

Prayer:

Father, make me dedicated like Anna. I pray You would reveal Your plans and purposes to me. Help me to make more time for Your presence, in Jesus’ name!
