Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness… – Lk 4:1

Jesus is God. He and the Holy Spirit are One! Yet Scripture says even Jesus was, “filled with the Holy Spirit.” He had an interaction – an encounter – with the presence of God that changed His life forever:

“And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, ‘You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.’ ” – Lk 3:22

Before He was “filled with the Holy Spirit,” Jesus did not perform a single miracle. Yet after He was “filled,” He healed, delivered, and saved everywhere He went.

My suggestion to you is this: if even Jesus – the very Son of God – had to be “filled with the Holy Spirit” to live the life God destined Him to lead, how much more do you?

Prayer:

Father, fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Cover me with Your presence! I know Your Holy Spirit lives in me; and now I’m asking Him to fill me like never before, in Jesus’ name!
