Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then they came near to him and said: “We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones, but we ourselves will be armed, ready to go before the children of Israel until we have brought them to their place; and our little ones will dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.” – Num 32:16-17

Two and a half tribes out of twelve had found suitable land. Gad, Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh had inherited the land they needed to support their families, flocks, and herds. Yet even though they were set, they refused to rest until their brothers and sisters were taken care of, too!

Are you willing to invest in the destiny of the people around you, even at your own expense? Will you put what’s best for you on hold, in favor of what’s best for others? Will you delay your own destiny, so that other people can walk out theirs?

Prayer:

Father, give me an attitude of sacrifice. It’s not enough for me to be walking out my calling: I want the people around me to be walking out their calling too! Help me to remember that the mission of the group is more important than the mission of any one individual, in Jesus’ name!
