CityLight Pastor Commentary:
“Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Command the children of Israel, and say to them: “When you come into the land of Canaan, this is the land that shall fall to you as an inheritance—the land of Canaan to its boundaries”’” (Num 34:1-2). The Lord outlined the boundaries of the Promised Land, in painstaking detail, before the people of Israel went in and possessed the land. There are two steps that God wants us to differentiate: ownership and possession. He owns the land, and had already given it to His children as a possession. However, the Israelites would not possess the land until they drove out the previous inhabitants. God wants to partner with us for victory. He will show us things He has already given into our hands so that we might partner with Him in possessing them. Do not be discouraged; take what God has promised you because it is already yours to possess.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that Your Word clearly outlines what is ours to possess. As your children, You have already given us ownership of healing, righteousness, salvation and prosperity. Help me to possess the land You have given me!
