Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead. – Lk 8:53

When Jesus arrived at Jairus’ house to raise his daughter from the dead, everyone ridiculed Him. They “knew” that she was dead. Her death had become a scientific fact. But Jesus knew otherwise.

What have you accepted as fact? Do you believe your doctors, or do you know that God heals (Is 53:5)? Do you believe your bank account statement, or do you know that God will open up the windows of heaven and pour down on you such blessing that there will not be room enough to contain it (Mal 3:10)?

To know can have two meanings. First, we can know something through observation: according to all the onlookers, Jairus’ daughter was dead. Or, we can know someone through relationship. As we learn to trust in Jesus, He will prove He is capable of everything God’s word says He Is.

God is not mocked (Gal 6:7). He is willing to upend everything you think you know just to prove that He knows best. He will force you to abandon everything you have digested as fact, in favor of feasting on His word. Nothing is impossible to God!

Prayer:

Daddy, I know that You know best! My knowledge is finite; but Yours is infinite. Teach me everything I need to know. I want to know You more!
