Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
You shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite who is within your gates, the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are among you, at the place where the Lord your God chooses to make His name abide. – Deut 16:11

God promised to bless His people! But the blessing wouldn’t be poured out where the people wanted it to be poured out; it would be poured out, “…at the place where the Lord your God chooses to make His name abide.”

Know this: you will be blessed. But also know this: you don’t get to choose where God makes His name abide. The task is not to convince God to bless you through prayer; He is already willing and able! The task is to ask God in prayer, Where are You going to bless me?

Are you in the right city? Are you in the right career? Are you at the right church? Ask God where He wants to bless you; and then go there.

Prayer:

Father, tell me where I am called! Thank You that I don’t have to wonder if You’re going to bless me; I just have to discern where. Give me confidence in Your love for me, and obedience to Your call on my life, in Jesus’ name!
