Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

I was so foolish and ignorant; I was like a beast before You. Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. – Ps 73:22-24

This is the Psalmist’s honest confession: he was foolish and ignorant. He had been like a “beast” before God – wild, and without restraint! Nevertheless…he had stayed by God’s side through it all; and God had stayed with him!

Even when we are foolish, God stays by our side! Even when we are ignorant, He is patient with us, and trains us as a parent trains a child (Prov 13:24). Even when we are stubborn and refuse to move on our own, He carries us, “…as a  father carries his son” (Deut 1:31)!

There is nothing you can do to cancel God’s love for you! Just hang on to Him, and He will hang on to you. He will hold you by the hand, and guide you with His counsel. And at the end of your life, when all is said and done, He will receive you into Heaven with open arms!

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. – Jas 4:8

Prayer:

Father, thank You for never turning Your back on me. You love me with an infinite love that cannot be canceled, and cannot be changed! Thank You for Your everlasting love, in Jesus’ name.
