Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“And the Lord said to me: ‘What they have spoken is good. I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him.’” – Deut 18:17-18

Moses was about to die. That meant God’s people had a serious problem. They had relied on Moses for years to tell them what God was saying. If Moses died, who was going to talk to them for God?

Jesus. God’s answer to His people’s question was, “I will raise up…a Prophet…and will put My words in His mouth” (v 18). Jesus came to tell us God’s heart. Jesus also came so that we would never again need a mediator to receive God’s word. He is our Mediator; so when we talk to Him, we talk to God!

God’s will is to speak to you directly. You don’t need a prophetic word. You don’t need a “Moses” to tell you what God is trying to say! You need a relationship with Jesus! As you speak to Him, you are speaking to God; and you will know everything He has to say.

Prayer:

Father, thank You that I don’t need another person to hear from You! I will listen to Jesus; because I know He and You are One. Help me to prize relationship with You, so I can always hear what You have to say, in Jesus’ name!
