Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“When the army goes out against your enemies, then keep yourself from every wicked thing.” – Deut. 23:9

Purity is most important in times of conflict. Holiness is most essential in times of war. For God’s people, battles are won and lost not on their strength or fighting ability, but on their ability and willingness to keep sin out of the camp.

When the enemy attacks, keep yourself pure. Focus on Jesus. Do not give Satan a way in to your mind and heart! There is such a thing as “giving place” to the devil.[1] If your camp is a mess and your life is full of sin, you are giving your enemy an unnecessary foothold that he can use to take defeat from you. But if you would turn to Jesus with all your heart and look to Him alone, God would bring you to victory.

“For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you…” – Deut. 23:14

Prayer:

Father, help me to clean up my camp! If there’s anything in my life that needs to be removed, let me know. You have my ear. Speak to me, and I will do whatever You ask, in Jesus’ name!
