Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately.” – Lk 12:35-36

Scripture tells us what a faithful servant looks like. A faithful servant’s “waist” is always “girded:” he is surrounded by truth. A faithful servant’s “lamp” is always “burning:” he comes alive with a fiery passion for God. A faithful servant “waits” for his “master:” he doesn’t just behave well because he thinks someone is watching; he emulates his master’s character because he wants to be more like him.

Jesus is coming back. He died on the Cross to purchase your salvation; and He’s coming back to collect on His investment. When He comes, will you be ready?

“Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” – Lk 12:40

Prayer:

Father, make me a faithful servant. Help me to wait in faith, because I know You are coming soon. I declare that when Jesus comes back, I will be ready!
