Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“The Lord God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and from the land of my family, and who spoke to me and swore to me, saying, ‘To your descendants a I give this land,’ He will send His angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there.” – Gen 24:7
Abraham’s servant had a monumental task ahead of him. He was to return to Abraham’s home country, find a wife for Abraham’s son, and somehow convince her to come with him – to a country where she had never been – and marry Isaac – a man she had never met. How in the world was he supposed to do that?
God would send His angel before him. God’s angel would prepare the way. God’s angel would do the hard work, so when Abraham’s servant arrived, everything would fall into place!
God will send His angels ahead of you. They will prepare the ground so everything will be ready when you go to do His work. Are you going on a missions trip? Pray that God would send His ministering angels to get things ready. Are you headed into a job interview? Pray that God would send His ministering angels to set you up with favor in that place!
Wherever you are going: ask God to send His angels first! When you arrive, you will notice the difference.
Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? – Heb 1:14
Prayer:
Father, I pray You would send Your ministering angels into every single place I go. I pray they would prepare the ground ahead of me, so doing Your work is fulfilling and fun!
