Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? – Lk 16:10-11

The way we steward our finances is an indication of the way we steward spiritual truths. Do you freely give of what you have received? Do you willingly sow what you already have into God’s kingdom, knowing He will bless you with more? Responsible financial stewardship can be a stepping stone to spiritual growth. If God can trust us with unrighteous mammon, He will trust us with true riches!

God invites us to make the same decision with both money and revelation: no matter how much I have right now, I am going to steward it well. If you don’t give liberally when you have a little, you won’t give liberally when you have a lot! But if you train yourself to give liberally with whatever you have in your hand, God will make you ruler over more.

Money is a tool God uses us to expand His Kingdom. The way you treat money is incredibly important, because money is the idol most likely to make a play for your heart. Money makes a great servant, but a terrible master. Are you working for your money? Or is your money working for you?

Prayer:

Father, help me to be a good steward over my finances. Help me to manage what I already have more responsibly. Help me to position myself for increase, in Jesus’ name!
