Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
But the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid because of them, for tomorrow about this time I will deliver all of them slain before Israel. You shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire.” So Joshua and all the people of war with him came against them suddenly by the waters of Merom, and they attacked them. – Josh. 11:6-7
God told Joshua to attack; so Joshua attacked! He didn’t give himself time to back out or say no. He didn’t leave space for other people to discourage him! He launched confidently into God’s destiny for his life; and the result was swift and decisive victory.
When God calls you to go, do you go? When He tells you victory is certain, do you believe Him? Don’t talk yourself out of your destiny! If He says you will do it, it will be done, in Jesus’ name.
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. – Jas. 1:22-24
Prayer:
Father, if You promise it, I believe it! Make me a doer of Your word, and not a hearer only. Thank You for emboldening my enemy to fight against me so You can issue him a final defeat as I step out in faith and stand on Your word! Say the word and I will go, in Jesus’ name.
